# Idea to App OS

> Your software, built by AI, directed by you. The playbook for people who do not code.

Idea to App OS is a seven-guide playbook written for people who have never written code, bundled with the CodeForge workflow plugin that makes Claude Code behave like a disciplined developer, a security and launch kit for the part where AI-built apps fail, and seven templates. Pro adds a written Idea Review by email; Founder adds a Pre-Launch Review and 30 days of email.

## Who it is for

Business owners, consultants and professionals with a budget who want a specific tool built and would rather direct it than learn to code

## The problem

An AI builder got you a screen that looks right in an afternoon. Then login broke, a button did nothing, it said "fixed" and nothing changed, and the credits kept burning. The agency quote for the same tool was five figures. So the idea sits there.

## What you get

Seven guides that tell you what to say to Claude Code at every step, the CodeForge plugin (14 skills: questions before code, a plan you approve, tested steps, review, verification), three rule files, a CLAUDE.md project template, seven templates, and in Pro and Founder, written reviews of your spec and your app by email.

## Features

- Your idea on one page: seven questions that turn "an app for my clients" into a spec an AI can build from, with the exact first prompt
- Set up your AI developer: Node, Git, Claude Code, CodeForge and four accounts, step by step on Mac and Windows, with a monthly cost table
- Directing the build: the 60-minute session, one feature per session, what to say and what never to say, what "done" means
- When it breaks: fifteen stuck situations with the exact message to send, the 45-minute budget rule, the two prompts that roll back to the last working version
- The last 20 percent: login without custom code, users only seeing their own data, secrets out of the code, backups, Stripe in test mode, deploy, the pre-launch self-test
- Launch: ten people first, the three feedback questions, bugs before features, a landing page from one prompt, the one number to watch
- Run it without a developer: the monthly 30-minute health check, cost of ownership, the four cases where you hire a human and the brief that gets you a good one

## FAQ

### I have never written a line of code. Is this really for me?

Yes, that is the only reader the guides were written for. Every technical term gets one line of explanation the first time it appears, every step has the exact text to paste, and the CLAUDE.md template tells the AI you are not a developer and must be spoken to in plain English. What it asks of you is time: one-hour sessions most days for two to four weeks on a first build.

### Why Claude Code instead of Lovable or Bolt?

Those builders are fast for the first 80 percent and get expensive at the last 20: login, data rules, payments, deploy. Claude Code with the CodeForge plugin forces questions before code, a written plan you approve, small tested steps and a verification pass before anything is called done. Guide 02 sets it up in about 90 minutes.

### Is AI-written code safe to put in front of customers?

Not by default. A 2026 Escape.tech scan of more than 1,400 production apps built with AI builders found security issues in 65 percent and at least one critical issue in 58 percent. Guide 05 is a checklist against exactly those failures, with the prompt for each item and a two-account test you run yourself. The Founder edition adds a human written review before launch. None of it is a certification.

### What do Pro and Founder add, and are there calls?

No calls. Pro adds an Idea Review: email your one-page spec, get a written build plan within three business days with the build order, the parts that will hurt, the stack decision and your first five prompts. Founder adds a Pre-Launch Review of the deployed app (security, data, payments, deploy, a launch verdict) and 30 days of email questions. Founder is limited to five buyers a month.

### What will it cost me per month to run the app?

Guide 02 has the table with ranges. A realistic first month is in the tens of dollars if you use the free tiers of GitHub, Vercel and Supabase and a Claude Pro plan. Prices change, so the guide tells you to check each pricing page, and guide 07 covers the ongoing cost of ownership.

### When should I hire a real developer instead?

Guide 07 names four triggers: more than about 500 daily users, a custom login flow, payment logic beyond Stripe Checkout, or a compliance requirement. For those it includes a developer brief template that gets you a good contractor without handing over the keys.
